The Giving Challenge Finishes

Welcome to a Brown Bird Designs kind of Tuesday, where quilting is always the main topic. Today, I am finally sharing something that I’ve been meaning to reveal for months. If you follow me on Instagram or read my blog, you may have heard me mention The Giving Challenge. Every November, I take on this challenge with a different approach. In the past, I’ve done giveaways, created special projects for one cause, and made various handmade goods for different causes. Last year, I aimed to reduce my stack of charity quilt blocks, which had ...

Scrap Busting Charity Quilt from Brown Bird Designs Quilts

I have been in a bit of a funk for the past two years. As a result, my list of UFOs (Unfinished Objects) is growing. I have not added many finished quilts to my list of completed projects. The quilting group I am in is called Harmony and is part of do. Good Stitches, a group that makes charity quilts. I get to pick the block used for a quilt two times a year, and that month each group member sends me two blocks. I get about 20 blocks. That is why I am so excited to have finished this ...

Good Karma Sew-A-Thon from Brown Bird Designs Quilts

It is on!!! A call was made, and a challenge has been accepted. Now is the time to sew, sew, sew — and what better excuse is there to sew when you can do it while making a difference! My niece’s best friend Mason called me asking for my help. He explained to me that his dad was a doctor in NM, and they are worried that they will not have enough masks for their patients. He sent me a video on how to make them and a PDF pattern template from the Turban Project; and he said other than ...

These items would be perfect to give to a number of different charities nationwide. I have included a link to each project, why they can be useful, and ideas on where you can donate them.
